Arizona

We decided that we had had enough of the Utah winter. Dark, dreary, cold, inversion filled days. So we decided to pack up and head down to sunny, warm Arizona to stay with our friends, Billy & Angela. It was a perfect 6 days there. The girls swam, and jumped on the tramp everyday, we layed out by the pool, picked oranges off the trees and had fresh orange juice with breakfast, shopped around at all the awesome stores that Utah doesnt have. Ate dinner at all the awesome restuarants that Utah doesnt have. Drove around and looked at 24 million dollar houses in Paradise Valley. It was just what we needed!

No More Training Wheels

Laney has just learned how to ride her bike without training wheels. She does pretty good. She keeps looking down at the pedals instead of looking up where she is going so she stops a lot. But she will get the hang of it.

This thing has been countless hours of fun for our girls, all the cousins and all the neighbor kids. Its the perfect size for all of them and it doesn't go too fast. The kids love to hook up their sleds behind it and be pulled around the park. It saved us hearing were bored during winter break that's for sure!!

We got Avi a Broncos jersey for Christmas and she wore it for 7 days straight. She slept in it, would shower and but it back on. I finally had to pry it off her and wash it!! She is so funny about things like that.

Laney's 1st Haircut

I have never cut Laney's hair. Ryan will cut her bangs with his clippers but we have never cut the back. Its so cute and curly and long. But it was getting really stringy and a pain to comb out everyday. So I took her over to my neighbors house who has a salon in her house and had her do it. She took a couple of inches off and it looks so much better. Its so much easier to take care of now. And she still has the cute curl to it. That's my favorite.

Halloween Party

Something was wrong with my camera this night. It left a big blurry mark on almost all my pictures. I didn't even get a picture of myself that night. I went as the Octomom. Ryan's costume was so funny. Before we went to the party he went into the gas station and the guy behind the counter asked him if he got anything out hunting and Ryan just played along and said no and the guy said its a muddy one I bet. So funny, I cant believe he couldn't tell it was a costume.

Labor Day 2009

We went camping for 6 days up in Woodland. It was nice and quiet and cool. We went down to Park City on Friday to spend some time with Ryans family. We drove around a lot and looked at 5 million dollar houses in the Park City Parade of Homes. Now back to the reality of school and life at home.

Ryan's $150.00 Haircut

Our neighbor just built a new salon in her house so Ryan decided to go over there and have her buzz his head. I went in there to sit with them when all the sudden the neighbor girl came running in and said Laney threw a rock at the neighbors window and it broke. I thought at first it was a window in their house but I was mistaken. It was the car. There was glass everywhere and Laney was hiding in the house. She knew she was in BIG trouble. Our neighbor is apparently out of town so she has yet to find out that her car window is smashed out. Good thing Ryan knows the owner of Diamond Glass, they are giving us a good deal to replace it. So needless to say Ryans $5.00 haircut turned into a $150.00 haircut.

Our good friends Remi & Jeremy are moving back to Colorado this week. Its very sad. We got the kids together for one last play date before they move back. They always have so much fun together. We are going to miss being able to see them all the time. But this gives as an excuse now to go on vacation to Colorado.

Every year our town as a parade and a carnival up at the park. Its very convenient because all we have to do is walk to the end of our street to watch the parade. This year the parade was a total of about 20 minutes. It was the worst parade I have ever seen. But the kids seemed to have fun.

We drove out to Antelope Island to see what it was all about. If you are ever thinking about going out there, dont waste your time. We did go to a farm on the Island and wandered around there for a bit. I guess for a Sunday drive its not too bad.

Avi turned 8 this year and we had a party in our backyard with all the cousins and friends. Avi only requested Webkinz for her birthday, she got about 15 of them. She now has so many she has to carry them around in a huge bag. We put up our water slide and ate pizza. It was the perfect afternoon!!

Lava Hot Springs

This year for Memorial Day we decided to go with a big group of friends to Lava Hot Springs. We had 4 trailers and 13 adults and 9 kids. It was a lot of fun. We sat in the hot springs once, they were way too hot, we went to the pool for an hour or two, and then it rained. We had a hot spring right across the bridge from our trailers and the kids spent most of there time over there. We ate a lot of good food and had fun hanging out late in front of the camp fire. We cant wait to go again!!

As most of you know I was recently fired. I had been laid off since right before Thanksgiving. They called me in at the end of May and told me that my position was being eliminated. I am actually very happy that I don't have to go back. I have never had a summer off and with Avi being on a traditional school schedule I get to spend the whole summer with my kids. Poor Avi has been in daycare since she was 15 months old, this will be a nice break for her too. I don't plan on going back to work either, so Ryan better hurry up and make some money!!

Girls Night Out

It was my friend Remi's 30th birthday this past weekend so we decided to get all the girls together and go up to Park City and stay at my timeshare. We had a ton of fun. We went out to dinner, went hot tubing, talked and played games until almost 4am!! I haven't laughed that hard in a long time. Its always nice to be able to slip away with friends for a night away!!

As many of you know Avi wore this Spiderman costume everyday of her life for about 3 years. She even wore it one year on Halloween under her Power Rangers costume. Its about 6 years old and has holes in the seams and strings hanging off of it but we have kept it because I just couldn't part with it. Well now it fits Laney perfect. Ever since she has found it in Avi's drawer she cant quit wearing it. Avi will put on her Power Ranger outfit and Laney in Spiderman and they run around the house and yard fighting crime.

The Misadventures of Laney

I could write a book of all of Laney's mishaps. They range from minor ( walking and falling down) to serious ( poking her eye out with a hanger). Today she decided to stick a jelly bean up her nose. We were in the car on the way home from WalMart and she said Mommy I'm bleeding. I thought she was just pretending. She was holding her nose and green stuff was oozing out of it. I said Laney did you just stick a jelly bean up your nose, and she started crying. So I tried to push it out which didn't work, I tried to get her to blow it out, and I tried to pull it out with tweezers which just shoved it further up. I called Ryan and you know what his solution was. To use his drill bit to pull it out. Are you kidding me!?!?! So I took her to the doctor and he told me I had to get it out. So he told me to push the side of her nose the jelly bean wasn't stuck in and to open her mouth and blow in it as hard as I could and I did all this and the jelly bean popped right out. It was crazy. I think that is such good advice. They should write this in all the parenting books and magazines. So if this ever happens to you, save yourself a doctor visit and try this method first!!

Every week I get together with my friends and we have P.B.R sessions. Politics, Books, and Religion discussions. Not really that's just what we call it. We get together with the youngest of our kids since the older ones are in school and we sit around and eat lunch and talk. I so look forward to these weekly get togethers. This week is was warm enough to put our water slide up and let the kids play. All the kids were off track so we had all the kids here. It was fun. The kids loving being together.

The kids had a really good Easter. Friday we went over to my friend Remi's house and the kids colored eggs and then had an Easter Egg hunt. Saturday we went over to Ryan's parents house and had brunch and a fun Easter egg hunt. Saturday aftrnoon we went over to my Dad's house and the kids colored eggs and had another Easter Egg hunt, and then we had dinner. Sunday we went to brunch with my Mom and then went and saw Monster Vs. Aliens and then took the kids to the park. We have had a busy past couple of days. It was fun!!

You have to buy a 15.00 stuffed animal in order to log on to their website where you put a secret code in to play with your webkin on line. Avi thinks she should get a new one every week. This is what happens when you leave a 3 year old alone with a sharpie while you take a shower. I walked in to Laney's room and couldn't believe it. Blue sharpie everywhere on her carpet. As you can tell her carpet in her room is really gross anyway. I guess its a good excuse now to get new carpet, but I have some cleaner I am going to use to try and get it up. I am not looking forward to Ryan coming home tonight to see this mess. I hope I can get it all cleaned up before he gets home.

I have been really bad about keeping up with my blog the past month. Nothing too exciting has happened that I felt I needed to post. Avi did have to go to the dentist and have her two front teeth pulled and then the next day another tooth came out so poor Avi is missing 4 teeth right now. I need to get some pictures and post them soon. Our dog Pepper is a pain in the butt. I think he is backwards in were he needs to go to the bathroom. He can spend an hour outside and then come inside and promptly pees or poops right on the carpet. This is so maddening to me. Our carpet is so dark that if he does pee and I don't catch him I have no idea were to look. Ryan is getting really busy at work which is good for us. We are trying to plan a trip to stay in our timeshare in Cabo with the kids but its $2,100.00 to fly there for all 4 of us. I don't get why its cheaper to fly to Cancun. Cabo is so much closer. Anyway that's the update. I will start posting more here soon.

The kids have been bugging us for months to buy them a pet. We aren't very big pet people. We thought maybe a hamster would be good for them but decided they aren't any fun. They just lay in a cage all day. Then we thought about a cat but I'm allergic and they are my least favorite animal. I hate cat hair. So we decided to surprise the girls and get them a dog. He is a mini schnauzer and is almost 4 months old. He is so calm and quiet, he hasn't barked once. Its so cute to see the girls play with him. Laney is obsessed with him she wraps him up like a baby and lays with him. I hope that he stays this good. He is a fun addition to the family.

Laney says the funniest things. The other day she woke up and her voice was all scratchy and hoarse and I asked her what was wrong and she told me she swallowed some ladybugs and ate a movie. Biggest Loser: Week 3

1 pound officially is what I lost according to Courtney's scale but according to my scale I have lost 3 pounds. So officially I have lost 6 pounds and unofficially I have lost 8 pounds. It's surprising that I lost anything this past week. I didn't exercise once, I ate a cheeseburger and fries and went to Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory and got some candy. Its hard to motivate to work out when you are sick too. Hopefully this week I will start feeling better and can get back to working out.

Biggest Loser: Week 2

5 Pounds. Well actually I lost 4 pounds. I lost 5 pounds on my scale and according to Courtney's scale it was 4 pounds. I am still going to claim 5 pounds when people ask. This past week I upped my work outs to 3 times and ate out less. I want to try to lose 36 pounds by the end of the March. I want to be able to wear cute shorts in the summer that aren't made out of sweats material. That is my goal. I wanna be one of the hot chicks this summer!!

The Biggest Loser: Week One

1 pound. That's what I lost. Pretty sad. I started the week out really good. I worked out on Monday ate better and smaller portions. By Thursday morning I was down 5 Pounds. But then it all went downhill. Wednesday I ate lunch at Zupa's. Thursday I ate lunch at Lorena's, Friday I ate lunch at The Olive Garden and dinner at MacCool's, Saturday I ate lunch at Zupa's (again) and then dinner at Benihana. Uh no wonder I only lost 1 pound. I am surprised I didn't gain 5 pounds after looking at this list. This week I am only eating out twice since I already have plans with some friends. But I am going to order salad and water and I am going to work out more. I need to move up on the Loser board. So far I am tied for 5th. Ryan did great. He lost 6 pounds. Hopefully next week I will have a better weight to report.

New Years Resolution

This year my New Year's Resolution is to lose weight. Does that sound familiar?? Of course it does because I have said this for the past 4 years. But this year I am really going to do it. We are doing a Biggest Loser Competition with some of Ryan's family. We each put in 25.00 and there are 11 of us doing the competition. So the winner will get 70% and the second runner up will get 30% of that money. We weigh in every Sunday and its going to last 12 weeks. Its definitely a motivator for me. I am very competitive. I have a brand new treadmill in my basement that has been sitting here for 2 years never used. I walk right past it everyday to sit down to get on the Internet. So today I forced myself on it and worked out and then I did some crunches and it isn't as hard as I have told myself it would be. I am trying to do it everyday. I would post some before shots but I don't want to scare people out of reading my blog.

Our Sad Tree

Our poor tree, from lack of watering, it is slowing beginning to die. You can tell from looking at these pictures that the bottom half is sagging down. Our ornaments keep falling off it and the bottom half is touching the carpet. Ryan is afraid to turn the lights on for fear that it will go up in flames. I guess this is why we have always had a fake tree. I told Ryan that we will need to go to the after Christmas sale and get a fake tree. Target has a awesome black one that I want, so hopefully I can get it at a rippin deal.

The Twins + Four

We watched my sister in law Brittany's 4 month old twins and her 3 year old and 1 year old sons on Saturday, in addition to my 7 year old and 3 year old daughters. So we had 6 kids all day long. I had to mentally prepare myself for a week. I was bracing for the worst. And I was pleasantly surprised. It was much easier than I thought it was going to be. Minus the fact that Tate kicked Laney in the head and Ashton jumped on Avi's tummy, things went great. The twins were so sweet and slept most of the time and when they were awake they would just lay there and hardly make a peep. It was kinda hard because one would be asleep and the other one would wake up and be hungry. I don't know how Brittany does it. 4 kids under the age of 3. She must take some really good pills or just has a lot of patience, I think its the latter.

I think this picture is so funny. Avi made little pieces of paper that said this is Ali, this is Ava and layed them by them so we wouldn't get confused.

I got a new printer/copier/scanner at the after Thanksgiving sale and I have been going through a bunch of my old pictures from when I was a little girl. I came across this picture of me in the tub when I was about 2 and I cant believe how much Laney looks like me. I showed Laney this picture and she thought is was her.

I also came across this picture of me and my Grandpa at the Grand Canyon when I was about 3. This is one of my favorite pictures.

Christmas Decorations

This year we decided to get a real tree. There is nothing better than walking into the house and smelling a fresh pine tree. It was so big we had to cut some off the top. I'm sure it will be dead before Christmas since we got it so early, but the kids were so excited to put it up. Once we got it all decorated Laney said its Christmas now!! She hasn't quite grasped the concept of Christmas yet.

World Fair

Avi's school had a World's Fair Program. They were assigned a country which was Guatemala and then they had to pick something from the country to write a report on. Avi chose holidays. So if anyone has any questions on any holiday in Guatemala ask Avi she knows them all. Each grade had to do a performance and her class did a dance to Boot Scootin Boogie. She did a great job up there on stage. And she did a great job on her report. Were so proud of her!!

Bowling League

Me and Ryan joined a bowling league that meets every Wednesday night. I have been wanting to join a league for a while and then the opportunity game up to be in a league with a bunch of our friends and we couldn't pass it up. Its so fun!! I have to brag a little bit. I am the best bowler on my team. I scored a 170 last Wednesday. That's the best game I have ever bowled. As of last week we were number one in the league!! I think maybe I am going to quit my job and join the pro bowling tour. Ha Ha.

I love Facebook!! Up until yesterday I had a page but I didnt really use it. But I started searching and found so many people that I know on there that I am now addicted and cant quit looking at it. Its the greatest day of Ryan's life. Phish is reuniting. You would think the birth of his children or marrying his beautiful wife would fall into that category. As long as I have known Ryan this has been his favorite band. Personally I don't think they are that good. There's only so much jamming I can stand and Phish can jam on for a half hour straight. They have stupid songs. Karina's Got A Lumpy Head???? Ryan told me I have to see them live. So I guess if they are going to go on tour I may as well go see them. Ryan decided to grow pumpkins this year out in our backyard. He planted them and put some miracle grow on them. This is what he picked on Saturday. They were huge. Its taken Avi 4 days to cut through the biggest one. They aren't very pretty. He said he should have gone out there and rotated them so they weren't so lopsided. Next year hopefully they will be nice and round.

Laney's New Boots

I bought Laney some new boots yesterday and when I got out of the shower I saw them laying in Avi's room. I went in there to pick them up to put them away and I saw that Laney had colored all over them with a purple marker. I went downstairs and asked her why she did it and she said I don't know. I said I am mad at you for doing this, what do you say, and she said thank you and I said no you need to say I'm sorry and she said, its ok. I thought that was so funny. She says the funniest things. Shes so sweet, its hard to get mad at her.

Year of A Million Dreams

For those of you who don't know, Disneyland has a promotion that runs through the end of the year called Year of A Million Dreams. They randomly choose people around Disneyland and hand out prizes. The biggest daily prize they hand out is a nights stay in the Disney Dream Suite. My nephew Tyler was lucky enough to win this prize. They have a third party that tells the Disney Dream Team where to go to find the winners everyday. Tyler was just getting on California Screamin when they saw him. They walked him back to his family and told them all what they had won. Tyler's family got to stay in the Disney Dream Suite which is located right above the Pirate's of the Caribbean, they got dinner at the Blue Bayou which they took all of us too, they gave us all a Dream Fast Pass, and we all got to be in the parade at the end of the night. It was so fun that this happened when all of us could be together. My sister Julie was so excited. This was a once in a lifetime opportunity and I'm so glad we were all there to share it together.

Newport Beach

We got to spend some time at the beach on our vacation. The kids loved playing in the sand and running around in the water. It was the perfect day for the ocean. It was super hot and the water was super cold. Its so calming to just lay there in the sand and listen to the waves. We wish we could live right on the water.

Cedar City

On our way down to California we stopped in Cedar City for the night to see our friends Billy and Angela from Arizona. Avi & Laney love Ryan & Sierra and were so excited to see them. It was a short visit but we are glad we got to spend some time with them. We wished we lived closer, its fun to see the girls together.

Laney's Birthday

We had Laney's Birthday party before we left on our vacation. We had a pinata that I filled with carrots instead of candy (which I thought was funny, but the kids didn't) and we had my gourmet cupcakes. All the cousins and neighbors were able to make it. Laney had a great party. She wasn't really interested in opening her presents. She doesn't like a whole lot of attention, she gets shy. She is so sweet and cute and we love her so much!!

I went 24 hours without reading Breaking Dawn. I only have about 200 pages left so I am trying to only read one chapter a night. I couldnt read last night because The Biggest Loser was on. We love that show.

Football Season

Ryan doesn't like sports. That's one thing I love about him. He would rather watch a chick flick than a football game. But this year we talked and decided that we were going to get into football. We know nothing about any of the teams really. So the team that we decided we were going to be fans of are the Denver Broncos. I'm sure this will upset some people but the only reason we chose this team was because I already have a Broncos sweatshirt and didn't want to buy a new one for another team. So I hope they are having a good season so far. I don't even know who their quarterback is. I hope they make it to the Super Bowl!!

Eclipse

I read Twilight in about 1 day. And I read New Moon in about 1 day. So far it has almost taken me a week to get through Eclipse. Its not that I don't like it, its just I don't want it to end. I am trying to limit myself to an hour a night of reading. Ryan is jealous of the books. Whenever I go upstairs to start reading he rolls his eyes at me. He has started reading Twilight though and he seems to like it. It takes Ryan about 6 months to get through a book and so far its taken him about a week to read half of Twilight. I am trying to save Breaking Dawn for our trip to California but I doubt I will make it that long.

Twilight

I tried not to give in to all the hype of Edward and Jacob but I just couldn't resist anymore. Everyone I know are reading these books. So I bought my mom Twilight for her birthday and she read it in one day. She gave me the book to read and I have been putting it off. But finally yesterday after work I decided to start reading it. Well I read it for 4 hours off and on and I am already half way through it. I usually don't read books about Vampires but I have to admit, it is great. I'm excited to read the next 3 books. And I hate to admit it, but I will be there on opening night of the Twilight movie.

Nine Inch Nails

Last night was the Nine Inch Nails concert. Ryan, me, our friends Jeremy, Olivia and Remi went. We got to sit in my company's suite. It was perfect. I have loved NIN since they first came out. He puts on a great show. He had the coolest lights and LED screens. Trent Reznor might be my new favorite person. Next to David Beckham of course.

My sweet little Avi started 2nd Grade. After years of trying she finally got into a charter school. I kept saying this morning I cant believe you are in 1st Grade and she kept saying Mom I'm in 2nd Grade remember?? Its gone by so fast I cant believe it. She is so smart and sweet, I'm sure she will have a great year and will have no problem making tons of new friends.

Disneyland

I love Disneyland. I could spend every family vacation there. I love walking into the park and being overwhelmed with the smells and the sights. We are taking a family vacation there in September. We are going with my Dad Pete and my Mom Shauna, my Sister Julie and her husband Todd and their three kids. We are going to be celebrating Shaylee, Laney, Todd and Shauna's birthdays while we are there. We have never been on a family trip together and we are very excited. Any time we get together this is all we talk about. My Dad loves Disneyland as much as I do. He is turning 60 at the end of the year and I think this trip means a lot to him for us all to be together. We cant wait!!

Raging Waters

We signed Avi up for a High School Musical Summer Camp and they performed at Raging Waters. It was only a week long camp so in 5 days they had to learn the whole play. Avi was a Cheerleader and had a couple of speaking parts. She did so good. We are so proud of her! Our friends Chris & Kendra and their daughter Olivia were there, Olivia was also in the play. And our good friends Remi & Jeremy also came and brought their kids. We had a great day.

Rainy "Days"

It was raining so hard the other day the girls couldn't help but throw on their cute little pink raincoats and go out and play in it. Our street was flooded and they had a ton of puddles to jump and play in. They had so much fun!!

High School Musical

Avi loves High School Musical. She has more HSM stuff that any kid I know. (Next to Olivia). So my sweet sister in law Morgan bought tickets for her and Avi to go see the play. She was so excited. Morgan took her out to dinner at her favorite place, The Fortune Cookie and they had a fun girl's night out. Thanks Morgan. We Love You!!
